This is going to come as no surprise – it really does vary how much is too much from one individual to another. A 16 or 17 year old hormonally hyped Western teenage boy is likely to be going at it several times a day. He has the ability to do it, and enjoyment levels at this time are at an all time high.
Erections and sperm production are easy to accomplish too. The fact is, if you are physically capable of achieving such thrills, and your mind is on sex every ten seconds of the day – there is practically no such thing as over doing it.
Then again, there are those that are brought up in different parts of the world, who believe that ‘self abuse’ as it is sometimes called, is sinful, and therefore they may earnestly believe that even one transgression is one too many.
There are also those who may be using masturbation as a substitute for sex, or as a comfort factor for shortcomings in other areas of their lives. If you feel that you are masturbating beyond the call of duty or desire, here are a few things to think about to help you decide if it has become a problem:
- Has your health changed in any way since you increased your masturbation?
- Out of ten how satisfied are you with your life? Your career, relationship, friendships?
- Do you jerk off to escape from issues and external pressures?
- Is your cock sore from overuse?
- Do you have any problem ejaculating alone or with your partner?
- Are you having regular sex with your partner?
All these factors can play a part in how you feel you may or may not be over doing it. As long as jerking off is a part of your life and not instead of your life, you can be content that all is well. But when masturbation becomes an escape from problems in your relationship, or it begins to affect your health, then it may be time to consider examining what’s going on around you and see if you are compensating for some other insecurities in your life. If that is the case, you can seek counselling to help you examine your mind and formulate a plan to change your outlook and your habits.
